Privacy Policy

How Calcy handles privacy and data on its free Australian mortgage calculators.

Effective 20 October 2026

This policy explains how Calcy (calcy.com.au), a small independently operated Australian mortgage-calculator site, handles data, cookies and advertising.

Calcy does not require an account, and all calculations are performed in your browser. The figures you type into a calculator are not written to a database and are not sent to us — they stay on your device unless you explicitly choose to save a plan (see "Home Plan" below) or submit a form.

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which calculators are most useful so we can improve them. Analytics events carry the page you visited and general categories (for example, which state or loan type a calculator was set to) — not the dollar figures you entered.

If you use "My Home Plan" to save a scenario across visits, that plan is stored only in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is never uploaded to our servers.

Cookies

Calcy uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to improve your experience on the site. Cookies we use include:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the site to function correctly. These include remembering your calculator inputs and preferences between sessions.
  • Analytics cookies: We may use analytics services to understand how visitors use the site. This helps us improve the calculators and content.
  • Advertising cookies: Used by Google AdSense to serve relevant advertisements. See the "Advertising and cookies" section below for details.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some features, including saved calculator scenarios.

Use the cookie banner to choose whether to allow optional cookies. Choosing essential-only prevents optional analytics and advertising scripts from loading on a new page visit.

Advertising and cookies

Calcy uses Google AdSense to display advertisements on some pages. Google AdSense is an advertising service provided by Google LLC.

Google AdSense uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites across the internet. These advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites.

What this means for you:

  • Google may use cookies to personalise the ads you see on Calcy
  • These cookies track browsing behaviour across websites to show relevant ads
  • Your data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy

You may opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google's Ad Settings.

For more information on how Google uses data when you visit sites that use Google services, visit policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

You can also opt out of interest-based advertising from Google and other participating companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance.

Calcy does not control the cookies placed by Google AdSense and is not responsible for the content of advertisements served. Advertisements are clearly labelled on the site.

Data retention and your rights

Because calculator inputs are processed only in your browser, we hold no server-side record of them to retain or delete. Analytics data is retained only as long as needed to understand site usage. You can clear cookies and locally stored data (including any saved Home Plan) at any time from your browser's settings.

Optional Calcy email updates

Spreadsheets are free to download without providing an email address. If you separately check the email consent box and subscribe, Calcy collects your email address, the date and wording of your consent, and the spreadsheet where you signed up. We use these details for occasional Calcy tools and Australian home-buying updates, not to assess your financial situation. We do not collect workbook cell values through signup.

Subscriptions are stored in Calcy’s privately controlled Supabase database hosted in Australia. Email addresses are not sent to Google Analytics and subscription records are not publicly readable. A requested, non-promotional confirmation email is delivered through Resend. Resend may process that message outside Australia. Your subscription stays pending until you verify your address through an expiring, single-use link. We do not start marketing campaigns from this signup flow.

You can withdraw consent through the unsubscribe link in any future update or contact Calcy to request unsubscribe, access or correction. We keep a limited suppression record to respect opt-outs. Public signup does not reactivate a suppressed address. Verification tokens are stored as hashes. Short-lived abuse counters use daily keyed hashes of the connecting IP, never the raw IP or device fingerprint; counters expire with their rate-limit window and are removed on a later signup request. Downloading does not subscribe you, and cookie consent is separate from email consent.

Spreadsheet delivery measurement

Calcy counts successful full spreadsheet responses by product and day using first-party aggregate counters. These counters do not contain email addresses, financial inputs, IP addresses or persistent visitor identifiers. With optional analytics consent, structural landing, click, file-response and signup events may also be measured. A file response does not establish that you opened or used a workbook.

General information and estimates, not personal financial advice. Check assumptions and official sources before making decisions.
